Laurina: The Low-Caf Rarity with a Huge Flavor

It naturally has a very low caffeine content, but intense aromas of chocolate, red berries, and honey: Laurina is something very special.

Because it is so demanding, few dare to cultivate this almost forgotten coffee variety. But if anyone can do it, it's the specialty farming nerds of Finca Amigos in Colombian Jardín.

And we've roasted the coffee to perfection to bring out the incredible flavor of this rare, premium bean.

While decaf is often perceived as flat, Laurina offers a full, complex Arabica flavor with low caffeine.

Compared to our N. 04 (91.8 mg per espresso), your Laurina Espresso has only a meager 24.5 mg of caffeine.

Farm Information:

Attia – Finca Amigos
Fincamigos is a farm in the breathtakingly beautiful Jardín region in the department of Antioquia in northwestern Colombia.

The farm is located at an altitude of 1741 to 1950 m.a.s.l. and covers an area of 16 hectares, 12 of which are planted with coffee. It serves as an experimental farm for Cafexport. Varieties grown on the farm include Laurina, Rume Sudan, Tabi, and Geisha. The farm has 4 hectares of forest protection area to preserve the natural environment. They have also planted 650 native trees and plants.

Laurina was introduced to Colombia by Cenicafe in 1970 and has become more widespread in the country since 2010. Since 2018, the variety has been available at Fincamigos.

This is a fully washed lot, where the coffee is pulped after selecting and sorting ripe cherries and then dry-fermented for 48 hours. After that, the coffee is dried for 10 to 15 days on raised beds in the sun.

Laurina also contains less caffeine than other Arabica varieties, making it an ideal choice for those seeking a high-quality, flavorful coffee without the associated caffeine kick.
